On 14 July 2025, T-shore’s Irish CoVE hosted a live webinar in collaboration with RWE, focusing on how Ireland can grow its offshore wind supply chain and address the sector’s emerging skills needs.

With over 50 attendees, the session featured insights from RWE’s Supply Chain Development team and a project overview of Dublin Array — one of Ireland’s leading offshore wind developments. Topics included cluster development, community benefit, supplier engagement, and the role of skills and education in shaping the industry’s future.

Explore Key Insights from the Speakers

  • Supply chain collaboration must start early and go deep
RWE emphasised the importance of creating strong regional clusters and building trust-based relationships across supply chain tiers. This directly aligns with T-shore’s goal of enabling structured, cross-border collaboration between industry and education partners across Europe.

  • Skills development and supply chain growth must go hand in hand
Without a skilled workforce, there is no offshore wind supply chain. Speakers highlighted the urgent need to scale up skills training and create inclusive career pathways. T-shore supports this through its network of Centres of Vocational Excellence, helping regions co-develop training aligned with employer needs.

  • The STEP programme is RWE’s model for supplier transparency
RWE’s STEP programme demonstrates how developers can increase visibility and accessibility for suppliers through open platforms and engagement days.

  • Dublin Array will deliver local and national benefits
The project will power over 770,000 homes and contribute to Ireland’s renewable energy goals. It also includes a €130 million community benefit fund and long-term job creation.

  • Community and cross-sector impact matter
From reef restoration to inclusive hiring practices and early education, RWE is engaging with environmental and social dimensions of offshore wind. These are the kinds of values and approaches that T-shore encourages through collaborative European best practice exchange.

  • Ireland’s offshore potential is huge — but coordination is key
Both RWE and the Irish CoVE stressed the need for an all-island, joined-up approach, linking industry, government, and education to make the most of Ireland’s natural resources and market opportunity.
