Norwegian CoVE: Empowering the Next Generation of Wind Technicians

We are thrilled to highlight the incredible work of the Norwegian Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE), part of the T-shore network. Recently, they welcomed a group of 24 motivated individuals, including four Ukrainian refugees, who are aiming to enter the wind industry through three education programs offered by Energy Innovation – NORWAY this winter.

These programs, designed to equip participants with the essential skills needed in the wind energy sector, include:

  • 👷🏽 Entry-Level Wind Technician
  • 🧗‍♂️ Blade Technician with Rope Access (NS9600)
  • 👷🏼‍♀️ NDT + Blade Technician

Each program offers certification in key areas like GWO Basic Safety Training, GWO Basic Technical Training, GWO Advanced Rescue, and more. This initiative, supported by seven leading companies, gives participants the tools they need to step into fulfilling, long-term roles within the wind industry.

Last year’s program saw nine out of ten participants secure permanent employment, and this year they aim for at least twenty. These efforts are a testament to the importance of attracting new talent to meet the growing demands of the offshore wind sector.

This kind of work not only boosts employment but also plays a crucial role in the green transition by developing the future workforce for sustainable industries.
